Friedrich Seitz - Fifth Pupil's Concerto For Violin And Piano, Opus 22

18 pages, Item number 1450347DU, $5.95

Friedrich Seitz was born in Germany in 1848. Although we know that he was an accomplished violinist, there is not too much else that is known about him. He composed a few works, and this is his most popular. It offers quite a challenge to the violinist with rhythmic passages, quick finger changes, and many tempo changes. It is a work that should be pursued by all violin players.

At a time when the violin was replacing the viola, the Italian violinist-composer Arcangelo Corelli was in great demand. He had a great influence over the following generation of composers, especially Handel who worked with him for a short time in Rome in 1707. This folio captures some of Corelli's more popular works for solo violin with piano accompaniment. It is volume 1, Nos. 1-6 from his Opus 5 which includes 12 sonatas. This is stunning music for the solo violinist looking to mmake a memorable impression upon the audience!
